KPOP OT EP 15: Top 10 KPOP Girl Group Leader

Welcome back to today episode of KPOP OT, where we talk everything and anything related to KPOP or the Korean Hallyu Wave. Korean Hallyu Wave refers to the global popularity of South Korea's cultural economy pop culture, entertainment, music, TV dramas and movies. I thought I should put that out there before someone comment or question what is that. 

In today episode we are talking about my top ten favorite girl group leaders. The position leader is someone who leads and represent the team during their activities. They will have the respect of their fellow members and guide their members. Many times the leader position is given to the oldest member, the member that been trained the longest or the member that mature and charismatic. Some groups may choose to not have a leader and some groups may change their leaders every so often. Some groups may even share that position with two members in the group.

Since we been talking about visuals, I am going to start off with my top ten KPOP idol visuals. This list was extremely hard to pick because I decided to be fair and only choose one member from each group. Some of the idols may represent two groups. This list would only be talking about the girls. The boy episode will be coming next. Do not worry.

KPOP OT EP 12: Visual vs. Center vs. Face Of The Group

Welcome back to another episode of KPOP OT. In today episode, as you can see it, we are talking about visual, center and the face of the group. These are all positions in a group that members can hold. 

You may wonder, what is the difference between those positions and that is the reason why I am talking about it here. I'm here to let you know what those positions are and some examples in current groups right now. 

Honestly, I was confused at the beginning when I first saw this positions and was wondering why too but I later found out. You maybe surprised and you may not be, it really just depend honestly. 

Before we start, I went on Google and search up some websites that talk about the differences between them. Those websites will be link down below. A lot of those websites said the same or similar things about each positions. Some of them phrases are from people who comment on posted that I am using. I will not quote anyone on this post just because I kind of gather information from all the websites but if you want to go and look at the comments that people posted on those post, you can. KPOP OT EP 11: GOT: Got the Beat

Welcome back to another episode of KPOP OT. In today episode I am going to do something a little bit different for this episode. I wanted to talk about a group and my thoughts on that group. And hopefully we all can share our opinions and thoughts about that group. 

In today episode, I want to talk about GOT (Girls on Top): Got the Beat. Because when this group came out, I was excited and super happy but there was a lot of thinking about why they finally decided to do this.

KPOP OT EP 10: Top 10 Group Created From Survival Shows

 Welcome back to another KPOP OT episode, in today episode, we are not going to be talking about Girls Planet 999 but instead something related to it. 

Girls Planet 999 is a survival show creating a new KPOP group. Although it is not a long term KPOP group, the amount of success and fame the members get to really help the group succeed even after the show and after the temporary group disband.

Some other survival shows do create long term and official groups like SIXTEEN. The show that create TWICE. 

Survival shows is a really good way to showcase trainees because through these shows trainees are able to build up their fandom and by the time they debut they are have a huge chuck of people supporting them that makes it a lot easier for companies to not really advertise the group because fan will do so themselves. Why are survival shows so great? We also get to see trainees that possible can debut in the future. Companies also get to see if their trainees have enough potential before debuting them. 

So let's get started. I will be ranking my top ten KPOP groups that debuted or was created through a survival show. Because there are so many survival shows, the shows that I am looking at for this list have eliminations to the final group. That means on the show, at least more than a chuck of trainees have been eliminated from the show to create a group. Like usual, we start off at number ten.

KPOP OT EP 9: What if... I Created Another Girls Planet 999 Groups?

 

Welcome to another KPOP OT episode where we talk everything and anything Korean related. In today episode, like I promise, this would be the last Girls Planet 999 episode for now. If in the future, I do need to come on here and talk about it again, I will. 

Today episode will not be a ranking or listing but instead, something I use to love to do. The question is what is it? Well, I'm going to tell you. The question is actually 'WHAT IF?' 

There always a 'what if...' to everything we do in life. For example, what if I didn't go to school? What if I became a KPOP idol or what if this person didn't debut in this group? 

I really like that question because there is so many possible outcome and it never ends at one stop, it keeps going. All of us can come up with different possible ending to everything and I really like that, so today will be the first episode on KPOP OT where we did a 'what if...'

KPOP OT EP 8: Top 10 Girls Planet 999 Visuals

 

Back again with another episode of KPOP OT and Girls Planet 999. I promise there is only one more and that is it for Girls Planet 999 talk. 

We know when it comes to position in girl group we look at visual appearances. Visual can determine your position in the group as the center of face of the group. 

When I was looking at all of the 99 trainees, I was shock by a lot of visuals. Just visual after visual after visual. I couldn't compete with that myself. Visual catches a lot of people attention and in today episode, I am listing my top ten visual trainees from Girls Planet 999.

KPOP OT EP 7: Top 10 Girls Planet 999 Dancers

 

Welcome back to KPOP OT where we take every thing and anything KPOP related. In today episode continuing the Girls Planet 999 topic, we are talking about my favorite dancer. 

I love to dance but I may not have enough knowledge about dance like professional dancers. I can't tell dance apart. Some I can but everything look the same, honestly. I look for angles and lines when the dancers are dancing. I look for easy moves and how they make a dance move seem hard or easy. I look at their energy level. There are many things to look at for dancing and sometimes you just have to consider the best performances they do. 

There were many great dancers on the show and some of them shine as dancers but some do not and you have to look around for them. Each performances show a new skill about each of the dancer and here I am listing my top ten dancers from the trainees that participated in Girls Planet 999.

KPOP OT EP 6: Top 15 Girls Planet 999 Vocalists

 

Welcome to episode six of KPOP OT! In today episode, we are going to be talking about my favorite vocalists from Girls Planet 999. 

In case you didn't know, I'm trying to do all of the Girls Planet 999 stuff before moving onto a different topic so I wouldn't have to revisit it again. That is the reason why a lot of the Girls Planet 999 topics are going to be in the next couple of episodes. Secondly, if you know you know, but in case you didn't I have a huge heart and love for vocalist. A lot of my bias turns out to be a main or lead vocalist in their group so I have a soft heart for great talented vocalists. I just think if you can touch people hearts with your voice then you are amazing. 

But, that doesn't mean that I completely understand vocal skills. I didn't study music in school at all. I do not have the perfect pitch, which I am jealous of but I just love their voice and skills. I do understand and notice mistake when they sing because a lot of time, I'm more focus on vocals than the performances aspect. Don't worried, I still care for the performances just second to their vocal skills.

KPOP OT EP 5: Top 20 Girls Planet 999 Performances

 

Welcome back to another episode of KPOP OT. I'm so glad that you are here still because I'm so thankful for your support. If you have any suggestion that could be feature in the nest or future episodes of KPOP OT, feel free to comment them below so I can prepare them. 

In today episode, continuing with Girls Planet 999, I will be telling you my favorite Girls Planet 999 performances. This would include Planet Demo Stage, Connect Mission, Combination Mission, Creation Mission, O.O.O Mission and the Completion Mission. 

Just a reminder that I'm only going to pick twenty, which is still a lot of performances. This performances are the performances that I could go back and watch them nonstop. This list also includes performances that caught my attention the first time.

KPOP OT EP 4: Top 5 Girls Planet 999 CJK Group Trainees

 

Welcome back to KPOP OT where we talk anything and everything KPOP that includes variety shows and dramas. 

In today episode we are still talking about Girls Planet 999. On the show the trainees are spilt into C, K. and J Group representing, China, Korea and Japan. 

From the first elimination round, they cut 15 trainees from each of the group. The ranking was based on voting points for each of the cells. The top sixteen cells move forward and from those sixteen cells the top nine trainees were pick. From the second elimination round, the elimination was based on voting points ranking for each individual girl in their group. Nine girls from each group was eliminated. 

Today ranking is base on the top nine trainees of each group. I will be ranking my top five trainees of each group from the trainees that survive the second elimination round. These trainees were the trainees that was able to participated in the Creation Mission and the O.O.O Mission.

KPOP OT EP 3: Top 20 Girls Planet 999 Trainees

 

Welcome back to another episode of KPOP OT. I'm excited because as you can see we are going to be talking about Girls Planet 999. Warning for the next couple of episodes I am going to be talking about Girls Planet 999 so this is not the end of it. 

In case you don't know what Girls Planet 999 is, I'm here to tell you. Girls Planet 999 is a Mnet's survival show where 99 girls from Korea, China, and Japan come together to compete to create a new temporary girl group. This is basically the new series for Mnet after the Produce series. 

I really love the Produce series and as much as I hate the whole entire voting manipulation, I still love to see talented trainees come together to create an amazing successful group.

The girls of Girls Planet 999 were amazing and very talented and I'm here to tell you about my favorite trainees from this show. I didn't pick a certain number of girls from each of the different countries. I went ahead and wrote down all my favorite trainees from all three countries, in this case they were in groups. After writing down the names, I went ahead and pick out my favorites starting at number one which was my number one pick. Trust me, it was hard. Super hard, because at the end of the show, I fell in love with so many trainees that it was just so sad.

KPOP OT EP 2: Top 10 Songs of 2021

 

Welcome back to another episode of KPOP OT. In today episode I will be talking about my favorite KPOP songs for the year of 2021.

Honestly, looking back at 2021, I wasn't really up to date with songs release last year at all but I compile a list of my favorite songs that I did listen to in the year of 2021 and looking at it, spoiler, there is no male artist at all. This list is going to be compile with all female artists and that is horrible for me just I was going to be more diverse and add in some male artists but I just didn't listen to them that much.

KPOP OT EP 1: Top 10 Rookies of 2021

 Welcome to the very first episode of KPOP OT. In this episode I will be talking about my favorite rookies for the year of 2021. These rookies soloists and idol groups debuted in 2021 and I'm so excited to tell you some of my favorite things about their debuts. Let's get started. 

Honestly in 2021, I'm surprised there were not a lot of groups debuting at all but I understand that because of the pandemic a lot of the smaller companies may not have funds to support new idol groups or soloists. That being said, as I went back to review the groups and soloists that debuted in 2021, there was a lot of familiar faces that has been in the industry. I will be putting some of the solo artist together because it made sense to do so. So, I will be starting off at number ten.

Hey What Sup? Welcome to KPOP Overtime (OT). My name is Linda. Nice to meet you. This is KPOP OT pilot episode where I explain what this show is about. Years ago, in March of 2012, I started off with Let’s Talk About KPOP (LTA KPOP) where I talk about everything related to KPOP from my favorite idols, dancers, vocalist, visuals to actors and actresses, even dramas and variety shows. I even did some scenario questions and games like ‘What if?’ and  Marry, Kill and you know what. But it is much more of a biased ranking show that I sometimes created videos for but mainly wrote on my blog. I start off with hoping for subscribers and views but it never really took off. I decided to start the second season in February 2019, because I wanted to continue to show my love for KPOP even if no one was watching or reading. In 2020, I wanted to start something similar but new so instead of creating a third season for LTA KPOP. I created KPOP OT because I would have to explain why there is a third season. And finally in 2021, I am finally putting in some work for this to grow. I was going to jump into this in 2020 but instead I threw it aside because of my job and now at the end of 2021, I am decided to start this KPOP OT in 2022. KPOP OT! OT stands for overtime. It's the idea of working overtime where I just continue putting out contents nonstop more than what I probably can. It’s also the idea of talking about KPOP over the time. I started with KPOP in 2008 and has been a huge fan of KPOP since then. I’m always open for new artists and music, but over the last year, I haven’t been up to date with how many groups are debuting and all the new songs that are released like I used to be. KPOP OT is going to be very similar if not the same format with more, hopefully, finger cross, getting my friends involved and you guys, the subscribers. So go ahead and hit that subscribe button and comment down below what you would like to see in the future. 

In LTA KPOP episodes, I have many rankings, again, from favorite vocalist, dancers, rappers, maknae, leaders, visuals, actors and actresses. I also created lists of my must watch dramas from different idol groups or with different actors and actresses. Some of my very first episodes for KPOP OT would be going back to these LTA KPOP episodes and redoing them. Hopefully it might have changed with a lot of new idols but it would be great to see how much has changed from the time they were written. There are rankings that I want to redo and there are some that I’m not going to redo. For example, my favorite songs of the year or my favorite rookies of that year. But there are a lot of rankings that I will do because they are due for an update.
